Now at 80 percent complete, the 91 Project in Corona is preparing for the “Main Push,” with traffic lanes being shifted or “pushed” toward the outer shoulders, and heavy construction occurring near Main Street. During the weekend of August 26 through August 29, 2016, crews will conduct the following “Main Push” activities:
- Completion of the new eastbound 91 Lincoln Avenue on-ramp and off-ramp, with new connections at Second Street. This will require full closures of these ramps from Friday, August 26 at 9:00 p.m. to Monday, August 29 at 4:00 a.m.
- Demolition of the old Maple Street Bridge, which will require a full closure of westbound 91 at Maple Street from Saturday, August 27 at 10:30 p.m. to Sunday, August 28 at noon. The new Maple Street Bridge will open on Monday, August 29 at 4:00 a.m. for northbound only travel.
- Lane shifts on the 91 between I-15 and Maple Street toward the outer shoulders. This will require full closures of westbound 91 on Saturday night and of eastbound 91 on Sunday night.
- Full closure of the Main Street undercrossing between ramps, starting Sunday, August 28 at 9:00 p.m. for approximately two months to allow crews to build the center portions of the bridge. During the two-month closure, the Main Street on-ramps and off-ramps will remain open during the day, with periodic closures required at night. Motorists may use E. Grand Blvd. and W. Grand Blvd. as detour routes.
If possible, avoid the area and use alternate routes, such as the 60 or the 10, for east/west travel. Please expect changing conditions, allow extra travel time, carpool or use Metrolink, follow detour routes, and check real-time traffic information using IE511.org.
