I attended school for 35 years, half of them as a professional educator. In acquiring these experiences, I could not read a textbook or write the answer to an essay question. This is the first public acknowledgment that I have ever made, that I have been a functional illiterate for almost 50 years.”

	Not knowing how to read and/or write is a serious problem which many of us can't relate to - at least, those of us who read and write well and who may take these skills for granted. For others, however, it may carry shame, so much that they hesitate from seeking help, not wishing to be found out. For those, however, who take that brave step to ask for help, new doors open which allow them to improve the quality of their lives and the lives of those around them. I hope that anyone dealing with this issue can benefit from John Corcoran's testimony to the power of the desire to learn and the availability of help for these desires to be fulfilled. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE!
