Nominate Corona To Get Google's High Speed Internet!

What Google is offering…

As you may have seen in the news, Google is offering a tremendous opportunity to communities across the nation. Google is planning to test ultra-high speed broadband networks ran on fiber optics in one or more trial locations across the country that will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what is available to most Americans today. Google plans to offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people.

How you can help…

The City of Corona has submitted an application to Google requesting that our community be selected for this exciting opportunity. What we need now is community participation, in the form of nominations from residents, community groups and business owners. Let Google know that Corona is THE BEST choice for their new ultra-high speed broadband network!

All you need is a Google account, if you don’t have one already, you’ll be prompted to create one.

Click here to nominate Corona now!

While I think that it great if the City of Corona can get the Google fiber as it will help many of us residence get faster internet speeds. However AT&T controls most if not all of the backbone in Corona and while new neighborhood are already expericing faster speeds with AT&T U-vers many of us who would like to get are unable to therefore I don't see how Google request is going to make a difference unless the City is blocking AT&T from pulling more fiber in favor of potenetially getting the Google which is still going to have to run over the AT&T backbone anyway unless Google is planning to install a whole in infrastructure here in Corona and I just don't see that happening unless the city is willing to share the cost.

Again I hope this goes through but I just don't see it happening.

Great post Howard! So far, we have little information on what exactly will take place if Corona does get accepted for Google Fiber. What I have heard though is that Google will be working with current providers of internet in the area by supplying them with faster connections for a small fee. This is all rumor though and Google is staying quiet on their exact plans at the moment.

Interesting post Howard, but I think you need more than one "period" in it to make it understandable. Maybe throw in a couple of commas, too?
