Bicycles for Children Making a Difference in Our Community

The Bicycles for Children organization, a local not-for-profit, was founded three years ago with the goal of donating 155 bicycles to impoverished children to the Corona/Norco Unified School District.   At the time, the organization hoped to donate five bicycles to each elementary school in the district. Through fundraising, being involved with community events, and private and business donations, they were able to exceed the goal, and purchased, assembled, and donated 196 bicycles and helmets.  Teachers and school employees from area schools picked up the bicycles and helmets and delivered them to their neediest students before Christmas Day.

Due to the overwhelming success of the program, they increased their goal for 2013, to 300 bicycles.  In addition to providing bicycles to elementary schools in the CNUSD, they wanted to provide bicycles for impoverished elementary school age children in the Alvord, Jurupa and Colton Unified School Districts.  They were able to exceed that goal and purchased, assembled, and donated 485 bicycles and helmets.  Over 300 volunteers showed up to El Cerrito Middle School on Dec. 21, 2013 to help assemble the bicycles.  Again, those bicycles and helmets were delivered to the neediest students before Christmas Day.

The Bicycles for Children organization invites local citizens, businesses, and companies to become donors to their community based charity organization.   100 percent of all financial donations are used for purchasing bicycles, and are tax-deductible.  Please feel free to visit their website at www.bicyclesforchildren.org for more information.  To donate to the program, send tax-deductible donations to:
