Are you ready for an adventure this summer? Want to make new friends and great memories? If so, the Parks and Community Services Department invites you to join an Adventure Day Camp!
Adventure Day Camps are for children 5-12 years of age and operate Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Staffed by City of Corona Recreation staff, participants will enjoy a snack every day and be treated to a variety of activities based on weekly themes such as “Fun and Fitness”, “Let’s Rock n’ Roll”, and “Summer Olympics”. Corona-Norco Unified School District is pleased to announce that they are currently registering for transitional Kindergarten. Parents that are interested in registering their 4-year-olds are encouraged to inquire with their home school sites for additional information.
Transitional Kindergarten is a two-year kindergarten program that builds a bridge between the preschool years and kindergarten. This program is designed for students who turn 5 between September 2 and December 2 and may not be socially, developmentally and/or academically ready for traditional Kindergarten.

There is a Free Appliance Disposal service available to Corona. With just a simple phone call you can have your working or non-working appliances hauled away for free at your convenience.
Kitchen appliances are often thrown out onto the curb for the garbage collectors to pick up. From there they are taken to landfills where they take up space, rust, and can expel harmful waste including certain substances that if let into the environment and can contribute to destroying the protective ozone layer. National Senior Health & Fitness day is coming up and its goal is to help promote keeping older Americans healthy and fit. Local Organizations all over the country will host a variety of health and fitness related activities based on the interests of older adults in their communities and Corona is no different!
Valencia Terrace [MAP] is hosting its third Annual Health and Wellness Expo in honor of National Senior Health & Fitness Day and the event will be held Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Southland residents can now register to get up to 75 percent in savings with the South Coast AQMD’s popular lawn mower exchange program.
Now in its 11th year, the program does good for the wallet and air quality by allowing residents to trade an old, highly polluting gas-powered lawn mower for a high-performance, environmentally friendly cordless electric model.
This year’s program will have 4,000 mowers available for trade-in. SCAQMD encourages residents to act fast and secure a spot at one of four events being held this year in Long Beach, Pasadena, Riverside and Anaheim.

Bands, floats, and marching units are wanted for the City of Corona’s 2013 “Main Street USA Independence Day Parade,” taking place on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. The parade route will proceed north on Main Street, beginning at Pueblo Avenue and ending at Olive Street. This is a community parade thus no judging will take place nor awards distributed.
Entry Forms are available online on the Parks and Community Services Department webpage at www.DiscoverCorona.com or at the City of Corona Parks & Community Services Department, 400 S. Vicentia Ave., Suite 225 in Corona City Hall [MAP].

Summer is the perfect time to relax, take up a new hobby, learn a new skill or challenge yourself athletically! The City of Corona Parks & Community Services Department is gearing up for a very busy summer, filled with programs and activities for all ages and interests. Below is just a sampling of what will be offered this summer.
California is home to many national parks and campgrounds and Corona is lucky enough to be in a great location that we can take family vacations to these beautiful get-a-ways without having to travel too far. Many of us look forward to the warm summer months so we can pack up our camping gear, RVs, and toy haulers and head out to spend some time with the ones we love most in different scenery other than our 91 freeway commute.
