Meet a Veteran!

Get ready for the 3rd Annual Meet a Veteran Event at El Cerrito Middle School! The past two years have been very successful and this one is sure to be so as well.

Their first year El Cerrito Middle School had seventeen Veterans come to their event and last year they had forty two Veterans join them. The event is May 16 at 9:00 a.m. and lasts for about an hour and a half.

The event begins with a greeting for the Veterans by the school band and students as they enter the parking lot. They are then checked in and provided with a gift bag and breakfast. Everyone then continues into an assembly with

Relay for Life 2012

Each year, across the nation, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. That event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. It’s a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.

It’s not just an opportunity to celebrate, remember, and fight back – your involvement will help the American Cancer Society work toward a mission of eliminating cancer and will support much-needed services in your community. May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, so let’s take the time to remember the importance of celebrating America’s rich cultural heritage. Who are the heroes that spring to your mind: George Takei, Lucy Lui, Kristi Yamaguchi, or M. Night Shyamalan? There’s someone you might not know about who helped change the lives of and bring recognition to, a lot of Americans.
