While daytime temperatures in early October still pushed 100 degrees, members of the Circle City Chorale were thinking cool thoughts as they sang about Christmas and “winter’s icy hands.” The Chorale, under the direction of Angela Rosser, is preparing for its December concert, “Winter in Song,” to be presented December 10 and 11.
From the whimsical “Nutcracker Jingles” to the poignant “Yes, Virginia (There’s a Santa Claus)” to the rhythmic “Jazz Gloria,” the choir will entertain with secular and sacred selections, including traditional favorites and some uplifting contemporary settings of holiday standards. In all, the concert will include over an hour of exciting seasonal works.
The Chorale has other performances scheduled as well. On Saturday, November 5, they will be part of the entertainment for Settlement House’s Empty Bowls fundraiser. The group will also participate in the December 4 “Light Up a Life” remembrance ceremony sponsored by the Corona Regional Medical Center Hospice Auxiliary.
Founded in January of 2010, the Chorale is a community choir with about 45 members who come from Corona, Norco, Riverside, and beyond to rehearse on Monday nights.
Tickets for “Winter in Song” will go on sale in mid-November. For more information about the concerts or the Chorale, visit their website at www.CircleCityChorale.org.
