Foodie Fridays: Discussion of Corona’s Top Eateries

Foodie Friday

Food: it is one of the few things in the world that almost always brings people together. It is full of history and full of culture and it just so happens to be necessary to life. It connects all human beings in the simplest way; we all need to eat.

For some of us more than others, we find great joy in great food. Those of us caught in that obsessive search for the best of the best are often referred to as foodies. In the past few years we have found ourselves in that category, on a constant search for new unique flavors and masterpieces for the taste buds that can be found at local eateries.

Living in Corona we become rather acquainted with local dining and we are usually eager to find new spots to share with friends! Over the next few months we will be discussing what happens to be the best of the best in foodie categories for the City of Corona. Let us know your thoughts of the best food in Corona and it might just make the cut for our Foodie Friday posts.

  4. Robin Vecchiarelli says:

We love “mom and pop” businesses and small chains rather than all the BIG chains out there-we have become particularly fond of Steamhaus Gastro Pub because it has such a unique and eclectic menu. I also agree with the above poster-Mountain Mike’s is unsurpassed as far as best pizza!

TAPS is our go to, consistent and good whether it is happy hour, dinner or brunch. Plus their beer is yummy. We miss the live music though.

Recently tried Pho Dat on 6th where Via Amalfi used to be. Excellent food and VERY reasonable (cheap eats)!

    1. Susan says:

Have been to Taps several times and enjoyed myself. Went yesterday with a reservation with my 9 months pregnant daughter in law and son. After 45 minute wait in 100 degrees outside, we still had not been called or texted as assured we would be in 15 to 20 minutes. In the mean time, you guessed it Chester, they were letting people sit down who had no reservations. Obviously, Taps does not respect those who plan ahead. We left and will never return. They have lost our business.

  9. MK Hotdog says:

Our favorite place is Twisted Gourmet now located off Hidden Valley! We LOVE their pizza and the owners are awesome!

  10. Doug W says:

Having a family with different tastes, no question best place to go is BJ’s. Great food and an awesome selection. Friendly servers too.

  11. Andi says:

NYPD for good thin crust Napoli Style NY Pizza and pastas. Very casual.
TAPS for very good upscale Food, especially seafood, great micro brew beer, Sunday Brunch and good Happy Hour
Citrus City Grill for upscale and stylish dining and good Happy Hour
Luna Mexican Cousine for upscale and innovative Mexican food and great Margaritas in stylish atmosphere, Happy Hour

  12. M Ybarra says:

Our all time favorite breakfast place is Silver dollar pancake house, sometime you have to wait but it’s Worth the wait. Lunch and dinner is Eduardo’s and Miguel’s Restaurant

  13. Julie says:

Good Fella’s on Lincoln is soooo good. Awesome breakfast!! Come hungry because you get a LOT of food
Miguel’s Jr. Best beans in town!

  14. Socallawgrl says:

We live Miguel’s Jr. for fast Mexican, Marcello’s pizza, and Mr. You for quick Chinese.

  15. Elayne says:

By far the best Mexican food in Corona is Eduardo’s, Burgers and fast-food tacos is Burger Basket, best dessert is the “sticky little pig” at Steam Haus Gastro Pub, Breakfast is Silver Dollar Pancake House.

  16. MH says:

The Silver Dollar Pancake House is hands down the best place for breakfast. The portions are good and the prices are even better! This is one “Mom and Pop” place you have to try.

The Cowboy Surfer also never let’s me down. The service is phenomenal and the portions are too! A consistently great place to grab some grub.

El Torrero has the best Mexican food. It’s been around forever and the quality never changes.

If you are in search of fine dining, Luna is the best option. Corona is very lucky to have such a nice place. You won’t leave there feeling like you got ripped off. Every dish will catch you by surprise. The tequila drinks are absolute perfection in a glass.

If its Pizza you want, Tom’s Farm’s has. Look no further.

  17. Ted Camhi says:

Best restaurant in Corona is NYPD. I am from NY originally. It is a real Pizza parlour. The owners bring New York to Socal and we are lucky to have them. The Eggplant parm is to die for and unless you`ve been back east ,most Californians have never had it the proper way. Cut super thin and layered like lasagna, you will have a mouth watering culinary experience. The staff is amazing and the prices affordable. The pizza is made like back east and is done perfectly. Different than what most Cali people are used too from all the mass produced pizza places. Every person I have brought here loves it.
Other notable restaurants. Tudys for Mexican. Great hole in the wall place with great food and prices. Also the Pancake house, wonderful in everyway for breakfast.
I do not consider any chain restaurants worth mentioning. They are not invested in the people of corona.

  18. Dan says:

Mill Creek off of Lincoln & 91 for steaks & BBQ. You get your money’s worth. Eduardo’s on 6th St. for homemade Mexican food, Silver Dollar Pancake House on 6th, & Farmer Boys on Magnolia for burgers.

  19. Barb says:

I would love to see more restaurants like they have in LA. Smaller..with great atmosphere.
There are so many empty stores in Dos Lagos…it would be the perfect place.

  20. Norbert C. says:

I recommend GOODFELLAS CAFE on Lincoln Ave. It’s a family owned restaurant that has very unique decor that will very pleasantly surprise you. The interior is full of pictures of the Italian celebrities and movie stars while songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and other music icons fill the airwaves.
The portions are bigger than life and considering the high quality of the food, the prices are excellent. It is being operated by Brothers John and George Tsarouhas, who are Greek. They know what great food is all about!

  21. Anonymous says:

Eduardos on 6th St. for excellent Mexican food and the carnitas are fabulous!

  22. Robin V says:

Best fast food-Burger Basket! Tacos taquitos chicken salad burgers etc. The best!
