The day before Easter 2010, 8-year-old Keely Proctor was taking part in one of her favorite pursuits–snow skiing. Toward the end of the day, Keely, an accomplished, confident skier, was riding in a ski lift, as she had done countless times. But this time, Keely lost her balance. She fell 30 feet, and landed on her stomach. Some of Keely’s internal organs were severely damaged; she eventually had one kidney and part of her liver removed. Internal bleeding presented a separate challenge. In all, five surgeries and 21 days of treatment required 30 units of blood supplied by LifeStream donors. When Keely was released from the hospital, her grateful parents repeatedly and sincerely thanked the many heroes and angels who assisted Keely that frightening day at Snow Valley and in the weeks following.
But not all could be thanked personally-because their contributions were anonymous. They were LifeStream blood donors. Craig and Terri Proctor thank them–thank YOU–the
best way they know how. They are on the team of caring, compassionate, regular blood donors, and speak from the heart about the need for voluntary blood donation.
“Give hope, give life, give blood” is more than a catchphrase to the Proctor family. It’s the Keely Proctor story. The City of Corona, in conjunction with Lifestream, is hosting a blood drive Tuesday, October 16 from 9am to 2pm in the City Hall Multipurpose Room (400 S. Vicentia Ave. Corona, CA 92882) [MAP].
Blood donations are essential for:
- Trauma patients
- Heart or kidney transplant patients

- Complete a health history questionnaire and mini-physical, which includes assessing vital signs, and iron levels.
- Donate one pint of blood. Blood is drawn using sterile, disposable materials.
- After donating, relax and enjoy refreshments in the canteen area – knowing that you just helped save patients’ lives!
Schedule an appointment online by clicking here, or call Olivia Sanchez at 736.2490. Walk-ins also welcome. On behalf of Lifestream, and the families that are depending on your generosity, Thank You for considering donating blood.
