I bet you haven’t given much thought about the street sweeper trucks that keep your city of Corona neighborhood streets clean or the value they have to the curb appeal of our community. These unrecognized heroes are working hard to make our streets clean and give us quality of life within our neighborhoods. Without them, our streets would be full of unhealthy garbage, harmful debris and general nastiness.
“My son just loves to watch them sweep the street! It’s a regular thing we do every Wednesday-watch them sweep! After the trucks are gone, my son loves to run down to the curb and see how clean the gutter is!” said Anne Crain, a Corona resident.
Did you know that the street sweeper trucks operate on a 3 part system? First, they use mist water to control the dust, then the brush sweeps the debris into a hopper while a vacuum sucks up the debris into the truck.
The streets of the city of Corona are swept by a contracted company named Clean Sweep Environmental. They comply within the South Coast Air Quality Management District and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System requirements. All of the debris picked up from the street sweeper trucks are required to be taken to the recycler.
The street sweepers do have a set schedule and they will visit your area on the same days every week. Click here for your street sweeping schedule.
Here are a few things you can do to help insure a good swept street:
1. Move your vehicle. That is easy enough right?
2. Remove large debris. The street sweeper trucks are not designed to pick up large debris. We can all help beautify our communities by picking up after ourselves and removing trash.
3. Remove odd obstacles from the gutter line such as hoses, trash cans, balls etc.

Why are the schedules not posted with no parking signs? Issuing parking tickets would help mu street get clean.
We used to live where tickets were given for parking on our street on sweeping day. It was laughable, watching residents race to their cars before the tickets were placed on their windshields. This idea would anger many of us on my street, because the street sweeper does a horrible job here. He drives down the main part of the street at the posted speed limit, not even clearing anything from the curb at all. Our “ticket” dollars would be wasted!!
My Street Sweeping day is the same day as my Trash Pick up. That does not make sense. The streets in older Corona always look dirty.
They do a great job in my neighborhood.
Not true! I had to stop my street sweeper and they told me twice a month they come through my street and I am across the street from a school so hardly get in front of my house done because there are no signs.. Today he came through and only did the other side of the street haven’t seen him back yet!….I want to know where you have to live in this city to get it done every week! Does a horrible job…. Never lived in such a dirty town!
I don’t think they ever come down our street. Who do we complain to?
The sweeper for my area shows up between 6:00 am and 12:00 noon. Why so early? We don’t need to ticket cars. Include the sweeping schedule for that neighborhood on the water bill as a reminder. We can make this work together without issuing tickets .
I always wondered who pays the street sweepers because they are wasting their money….if they are paid by the City of Corona what a waste of our tax payer money. I’m sure they would do a good job if people knew when they were coming & if it was manditory to have your car off the street at that set date & time. On our street the street sweeper only cleans in front of 2 houses out of 18. No one moves their cars!!!!!!! The only place that gets cleaned is down the middle of our street. Thats if they are cleaning while going around all the parked cars? The City of Corona needs to step up & notify the residents & have them move their cars or stop this service. The only one gaining from this service is the street sweepers, getting paid to clean gutters they can’t get to.
Somethings never change and its not only Corona! I truly believe street sweeping is a big waste of money!!
My old neighborhood posted no parking on street sweeping days with the hours posted for no parking. Citations were issued to those who refused to comply. If Corona wants to pay for this service of keeping our streets swept then some form of compliance should be enforced. I had a neighbor who refused to comply before citations were issued but he quickly started parking in his driveway when he received tickets. If the city wants to have clean streets as I am sure we all do, then post signs that states citations will be issued during the sweeping day and hours. Simple, really. Watch how many residents start parking in their driveways on the posted days. No one wants a citation.
How about doing some simple research before writing this article? Corona has street sweeping twice a month,NOT weekly! I have never seen the trucks use the water mist…they are rolling dust clouds. If the woman and her son see the street sweeper EVERY Wednesday they must be very special indeed!
We don’t park on the street in front of our house because the road narrows along here and we don’t want our cars to be hit. The horrible job the street sweeper does along here is such a WASTE for us and our neighbors!! They NEVER clean anything along our curbs as they drive down the main part of the street. Oh, wait a minute… their great vehicles actually fling a few rocks around as they drive by. Who’s going to pay residents for the dings and cracked windshields from this not-so-great service??
I like the streets looking good but do also realize that the street sweeper is hindered by many cars blocking the gutters. I definately do not want to have the hassle of remembering to move my car into the driveway on certain days and I don’t want those eye-sore signs on my street either. Looks worse than the dirty gutter. Any attempt to impose a fine, to me just says lets screw the citizens of the city with yet another income producing scam! Let the street sweepers do their thing and for those who want the street in front of their home clean, move your car. For those who don’t care, don’t move your car. Simple. Just don’t enforce things and let people be.
This is laughable. My HOA has informed me and has no parking signs posted for street sweeping on Mondays, yet the map showing the schedule says my day is Wednesday 2. What does 2 mean? The 2nd Wednesday of the month? It doesn’t matter much since I move my car off the street on Monday before leaving for work….No wonder the streets don’t get cleaned. Come on Corona leaders…get it together.
I live in Sierra Del Oro.I understand that the sweeper comes the day after trash pick-up on Weds. That doesn’t happen! lucky to see him once a month! guess to close to The Donut Shop I guess
I often wondered what if any, the schedule was for my neighborhood. When they do come, it is on Fridays, after trash day. However, they do not come with any consistency whatsoever. There are Jacaranda trees lining the streets around my home. They are a very messy tree, so IF they do come, it is very noticeable that the gutters are not littered with Jacaranda debris. I think it is high time that the City contacts the contractor and seeks a refund for the money that has been wasted from their lack of performance. There certainly are enough city employees roaming the streets of Corona that they could report when an area has been swept. This would not take more employees or time, just a keen eye by those already on the streets. I am sure there are many people who would log on and report sweeping or lack thereof. It’s time to correct this problem. A notice on the water bill would be a big help. Then a place to report when street sweeping did not occur. If we are spending the money with a sub-contractor, we should surely monitor their performance.
I live in a home that was built before 1910 and never had a driveway, so it is great knowing tickets are not issued especially since we carpool and leave one car at home. I usually end up sweeping my gutter once a month or when I mow the lawn. I do not see a problem with the street sweeper, maybe some of you should just need to get outside with a broom for some fresh air. Who knows maybe you will meet some of your neighbors!
I have probably only seein the street sweeper once in 18 years I have lived in my house. It is true that the street sweepers DO NOT come EVERY week! City if Corona, you should re evaluate this company you are using and also rethink this money that is being spent, tax dollars or even if this is part if our city utlility bill (unmentioned charge). I clean up my own curb side! Everyone should do this! Especially those who have lawn service, because all the lawn service people to us either blow the mess into the neighbors lawn on to the neighbors curb side. Lawn service people should be cited!
Just looked at the map. I will be looking for the street sweeper tomorrow. I will also notify my neighbors as well so we have more eyes to see if they show up. I will also try and remember to take pictures. Cuz I don’t want to miss this!!! Really can’t believe they come around. Thinking g the sweep company does some streets but not all or ours!!!! Check them out city workers! Re-evaluate!!
