Corona Hires Three New Officers

The Corona Police Department welcomes Officers Eduardo Banuelos, Daniel Clary, and Daniel Brazeal. All three officers were sworn in by Chief Abel on April 7, 2014.

Officer Banuelos comes to the Corona Police Department as a lateral with seven years of experience with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. Officer Clary and Officer Brazeal are also lateral officers from Desert Hot Springs Police Department. Continue reading…

26 Restaurants to Participate in Dine Out for Jordan Day!

The City of Corona has proclaimed Monday, April 7 as “Dine Out for Jordan Walker Day”. On this day, 26 restaurants will be participating in the Corona Chamber of Commerce’s “Dine Out for Jordan” Day. Jordan Walker is a junior at Santiago High School, who suffered a major spinal cord injury while playing in a CIF football game on Nov. 22, 2013. Dine Out for Jordan was created by the Corona Chamber to draw traffic to local businesses on a usually slow day in an effort to raise a substantial amount of money for Jordan and his family. In addition to medical bills, the Walkers’ home will need to be remodeled for wheelchair access. Continue reading

City Hall to Host Blood Drive

Hopefully the recent earthquake and aftershocks have compelled you to think about earthquake readiness. The 5.1 quake affected dwelling units, power lines, water lines, roads, and some incurred injuries. About 70 Fullerton residents were evacuated from their homes and La Habra reported evacuating residents from several apartment complexes as a precaution. Continue reading…

DUI, Driver’s License Checkpoint Planned Tonight

Corona Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on March 28, 2014, at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Continue reading…

Corona PD: 2014 Shoulder Tap Operation

On Saturday, March 15, 2014, the Corona Police Department participated in an ABC Statewide Shoulder Tap Operation. During the operation, 56 subjects were contacted by decoys at eight off-sale locations, which resulted in four adults being arrested.

Shoulder Tap Operations target adults who purchase alcohol for people under 21 years of age.

Corona Will Now Allow Backyard Hens

The Corona City Council has amended the Corona Municipal Code to allow the keeping of hens on certain properties within the City of Corona. This new code will begin March 6, 2014. The full text of the new ordinance can be found online here.
The following lot sizes are eligible to apply for a License to Keep Chickens:
Minimum Lot Size / Maximum Number of Chickens

  • 10,000 to 14,999 sq.

The Corona Police Department has updated their Strategic Plan for 2014-2017. Each year the department updates their plan in order to meet the needs of the organization and the community we serve.
