Have you ever wanted to know more about local government? Would you like to learn about the role of the City Council and how decisions are made? If so, then the next Women’s Leadership Luncheon is for you!
On Wednesday, August 6th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m. at the Sizzler Restaurant (1461 Rimpau Avenue), the Corona Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Corona will present “Your Local Government: Working for You” as part of the Women’s Leadership Luncheon series. The luncheon will feature Mayor Karen Spiegel who will explain the different forms of government and the role of the City Council.
The Corona Police Department invites you, your neighbors, and community groups to be a part of National Night Out (NNO), Tuesday, August 5,2014. NNO events are intended to heighten crime and drug awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. We want to send a message back to criminals letting them know that Corona neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real – sometimes referred to as POTR – is an American rock group based out of California. The band consists of Lukas Nelson (vocals/guitar), Anthony Logerfo (drums), Corey McCormick (bass), and Tato Melgar (percussion).
POTR will appear at the Fender Center Rhythm Lounge on Aug. 16, 2014 at 8 p.m., doors open for VIP at 7 p.m. and General Admission at 7:30 p.m. The VIP pre-concert reception includes Meet & Greet with artist, 2 complimentary wine/soft drink tickets, munchies and preferred seating prior to GA entry. Lukas Nelson will be featured at a Master Class earlier in the day.
Summer is now in session and so are the Concerts on the Green! The City’s popular concert series brings cool tunes to those hot summer nights so bring your friends and family, roll out a blanket, pop up that lawn chair, and enjoy the sunset over Corona listening to sweet harmonies by talented performers.

The Parade begins at the intersection of Main and Ontario at 10 a.m. and moves north to Olive Avenue. Grab a seat early along Main Street near one of the three announcers’ booths along the route located at the intersections of Main/Pueblo, Main/Rancho, and Main/Francis to watch the more than 70 entries representing local sports teams, non-profits, and businesses celebrate Independence Day in our community.

Today, Corona Police employees and their families will participate in the Law Enforcement’s Special Olympics Torch Run. Receiving the torch from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department at Hidden Valley and Hamner Avenue, Corona employees will run eastbound on Parkridge Avenue, to eastbound Cresta Avenue, and then to the area of Promenade and Bentley, where Riverside Police Department will pick it up tomorrow morning.
