Heavy rain is expected to arrive in Southern California starting late Thursday Dec. 11, 2014 continuing through Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014. The Corona Fire Department will provide up to 10 prefilled sandbags to City of Corona residents. Bags can be picked up at Fire Station #1 located at 540 Magnolia Ave. [MAP]. Please remember to help and conserve water, turn off your sprinklers through the duration of the storm.
A new website has recently launched, JustServe.org, to provide a place where every organization and individual can go to find service projects in the local and surrounding areas. Think of it as a matchmaking service to help pair people with the needs of community service agencies and organizations.

The annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration will take place on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the South Lawn of City Hall [MAP]. This eagerly anticipated family tradition features live entertainment, the lighting of the holiday tree, activities for children, and the return of the popular snow play area to begin the holiday season in Corona.
Learn about your options and sign up for affordable health coverage for you and the entire family at the Islamic Society of Corona-Norco’s Covered CA Open Enrollment Event Saturday Nov. 22, 2014. Visit the Islamic Society Corona-Norco, where enrollment counselors will talk with you face-to-face to explain your health coverage options through Covered California and help you select the best plan for your medical needs and budget. You can also find out if you qualify for low-cost or no-cost coverage through Medi-Cal. On site information will be available for Med-Cal, CalFresh, WIC, and a Mobile Health Van on site.
Corona Farmers Market has moved downtown to a new location at the Corona Mall due to construction of a new development on North Main where the Corona Certified Farmer’s Market has resided for the past five years. The market has had good memories of its first five years at the location on Main and Rincon and has great expectation for its future at the corner of Sixth and Main Streets at the Corona Mall.

The Corona Police Department will be hosting the 11th Annual “Kids & Cops Holiday Magic” event on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Sheridan Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event provides crafts, game activities, and a visit from Santa Claus for underprivileged children from our community. The program is made possible through community donations. Last year, over 1,000 children were presented with gifts made possible through these donations.
The Traffic Bureau is proud to present its "Drive 4 Life" teen driver safety program Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. This program is designed for young drivers who have a license as well as those who are about to get one. Our goal is to provide a FREE service to our community by educating our young drivers and their parents in an effort to promote traffic safety on our roadways and to prevent fatal traffic collisions.

Corona City Hall is hosting a Riverside County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Saturday and Sunday Oct. 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Corona City Hall Parking Lot [MAP]. This is a great time to recycle your old paint, used oil, chemicals, batteries, and propane tanks. Help protect our environment and make the City of Corona safe for our families. This event is open to all Riverside County and Corona residents. Drop off any leftover hazardous materials from your home or garage.
Calling all Star Wars fans: the Corona Public Library is hosting Star Wars Day on Oct. 18, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet and mingle with your favorite Star Wars characters and have your pictures taken, too! Even R2D2 will be here roaming about the Library.
The Maintenance Services Department is happy to announce that the Citrus Splash Zone will remain open until Oct. 20! The Citrus Splash Zone is open daily at Citrus Park, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Citrus Park is located at 1250 Santana Way in Corona [MAP], at the intersection of Rimpau Avenue and Taber Street. Citrus Park covers just over 20 acres, is ADA accessible and has many other amenities including a softball field, children's play equipment, restrooms, a picnic area and a drinking fountain. So beat the heat and spend a great day at the Citrus Splash Zone!

The Corona Fire and Police Department invite you to attend our annual Public Safety Day on Oct. 4, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join us for a day of fun, education and excitement for the entire family at the Crossings at Corona Shopping Center in front of Kohl’s Store, at Cajalco Rd. and I-15. This free event is family friendly and will feature information booths of many public safety related topics.
