Women’s Improvement Club of Corona (WICC) is one of the oldest non-profit clubs in Corona and it’s clubhouse on the corner of Main and Eleventh [MAP] is Celebrating its Centennial this Saturday.
The club was started in 1888 and since then has had a deep history in the establishment of Corona. This Saturday, May 4, 2013 along with the Corona Historic Preservation Society’s Vintage Home Tour the WICC will be commemorating the 100 year anniversary of their clubhouse and will be open to view along the Vintage Home Tour route.

The Corona Relay for Life is hosting its 14th year and the coordinators for this year’s event are making it the biggest and best one yet. The Relay will be held May 18-19 starting at 9 a.m. at Santana Park [MAP] in Corona.
The Relay for Life is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk to help find the cure for cancer. Teams of people camp out around a track and cheer each other on as they take their turn walking. Individuals can also participate. There is food, games, activities and entertainment for 24 hours of fun and celebration. Continue reading…

Once again the Corona firefighters have gathered a team and will be participating in the Annual Inland Empire Arthritis Walk, which is being held at Dos Lagos on Saturday June 1, 2013. This will be the third continuous year the Arthritis Foundation has held the walk in Corona in large part because of local support given by businesses and citizens of Corona.
Arthritis affects nearly 1 in 5 people including more than 300,000 children in the United States that have been diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis. One example is John Brown; a Corona Fire Fighter who was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2008. Continue reading…

The Corona Rotary will be hosting its fourth Annual Lobsterfest next month and they expect to see a sell-out crowd of 1,000 people. The evening’s event will be held at Fender Museum [MAP] on May 18, 2013. The dinner is an all you can eat affair that includes steak and Maine lobster flown in for the event, along with all the usual trimmings
Corona Rotary is part of Rotary International and is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) local service club organization that has been active in the community since 1923. Since that time, it has contributed more than $2 million to numerous local, national, and international programs. Continue reading…

For 17 years, Trauma Intervention Program volunteers have been working in partnership with Corona’s Emergency Responders and Corona Regional Medical Center providing support to emotionally traumatized citizens immediately after tragedy strikes.
TIP Corona is an all-volunteer, non-profit, public benefit corporation serving the citizens of Corona and surrounding communities. TIP volunteers are specially trained citizens who are available 24/7/365 to be called upon by emergency responders (police officers, firefighters, paramedics and hospital personnel) to assist family members, witnesses, and other bystanders in the first few hours following a traumatic event wherein victims and survivors often feel hopeless, confused, and in emotional shock. Spring break is here and the annual Spring Break Carnival at Corona High School [MAP] is bound to be an event your entire family can enjoy together.
The carnival will host several types of venders, from games, to rides, and tasty foods; there will be fun for everyone.
This family event will have rides for all ages, game booths for friendly competition, and a chance to take home a prize or two. Some of the several food venders you can expect include street tacos, kettle corn, smoothies, shave ice, barbequed hamburgers and hotdogs, and of course it wouldn’t be a carnival without funnel cake! Premier Learning Choices (PLC) is an exciting, new non-profit organization which serves families in our surrounding communities. Beginning June 3, 2013, PLC will offer a variety of fee-based enrichment courses for students entering grades 1-6 and 9-12
PLC’s mission is to enhance student learning while providing financial support to teachers and CNUSD staff. Monies raised by Premier Learning Choices are given to the Corona-Norco Schools Educational Foundation (CNSEF), which has given over $500,000 to teachers and CNUSD staff since 2009 in areas where budget-cuts have hit hardest: interventions, technology, sports, music, and the arts. As Americans we are often doing our best to support our troops, and for one local California resident supporting our troops means sending them a piece of our national pastime.
Gloves 4 Troops is a drive to collect baseballs and gloves to send to our armed forces overseas all thanks to Vance Albitz, a minor league shortstop in the St. Louis Cardinals’ organization.
Albitz was inspired by an article in which a solider was asked what he would like to be sent from people back home to which the soldier replied “Baseball gloves and a baseball, So many of our tasks are hurry up and go, followed by waiting.”
